There are ONLY 4 ways to win:
- Informational
You know something your competition doesn’t. That can be what the customers want (whether or not they know it yet), a marketing channel, sales approach, pricing strategy, etc. - Analytical
You know the same info as your competition, but you interpret in an insightful way. That happen through synthesizing data from customer interviews, models, analytics, competitor growth rates, etc. - Behavioral
You know when to hold ’em and when to fold ’em.
Times get tough. The cards are falling against you. Your hypotheses look wrong. Where others might not have the nerve to stay on the right course, you do. Conversely, you see when your hypothesis is really not true, ignore your ego and get out. - Technical
You can have technical innovation that makes something meaningful go faster, more accurately, and with less resources.
